RGK Mobile inks partnering agreements in APAC

Axiata Digital is partnering with RGK Mobile to help integrate two of its major carriers in the Asia Pacific region.

RGK Mobile will work with Axiata Digital to launch new services for Sri Lankan operator DIALOG and Indonesian operator XL this month, including content subscription and direct carrier billing services.

Through the new direct mobile operator billing agreement, RGK Mobile will provide a 360-degree cloud-based technology suite enabling easy content distribution and aggregated payment services integrated directly into the carrier’s billing service, and will manage logistical processes, including technical support, licensing and marketing for the carrier.

The company will provide premium content services to DIALOG and XL subscribers including Wellness, LetMeDance, and SunnyGam, and provide local customer support for the two carrier’s as well.

Roman Taranov, RGK Mobile co-founder and CEO, says it’s significant that a leading digital company like Axiata Digital is taking charge of content to encourage continued growth in the APAC market, and working to differentiate its offering through exclusive services. “Asia has always been at the forefront of offering mobile content. Now Axiata Digital is moving beyond traditional content providers and taking things into their own hands, controlling both distribution, payment and marketing, by partnering with RGK Mobile. We’re honored that Axiata Digital has shown its trust in RGK Mobile and is sharing in our vision of consolidating both content distribution and payment aggregation under one roof—a significant shift in the industry.

Mobile data traffic worldwide hit a new high in late 2017, with a year-over-year increase of 115 percent compared to the previous period. At more than 30 percent, consumer use of mobile for online purchases is more prevalent in the APAC region than other markets, and the region has seen local carrier’s investing heavily in capitalizing on that. Moreover, in some areas mobile infrastructure is far more advanced than local landlines or internet service.

With m-payment dominating the APAC region, disposable income on the rise, and direct operator billing becoming the technology of choice, mobile spending is on track to hit $786 million this year, according to Digital News Asia, citing Juniper Research data. RGK Mobile facilitates the process with a simple one-click system that lets subscribers sign up for content services quickly and safely, with no need to divulge personal information.
